Donations For Foster Teen Party: Last Call!

With the foster teen holiday party coming up in just one week, this Sunday, December 4, is the last day that we will be collecting donations. This party typically reaches more than 100 foster teens in need of connection, belonging, and love. If this is something that's on your heart to contribute to, please make sure to stop by the table in the hallway. Thank you for your hearts to support a community in need of love!

Thank You: November Collections

For the November food drive for the Merrimack Valley Food Bank, 105 bags of groceries (1,447 lbs) were collected and 72 $20 gift cards were given. This will be used mostly for the mobile food pantry which serves the elderly and disabled in the Merrimack Valley. Crews of volunteers deliver food Monday through Friday, using different routes each day to cover all those in need.

The teens (and their parents) did a wonderful job of loading and unloading all the bags of food, getting it all done in record time!

For the International Day of Giving, the Northwest collected $3,505 toward helping HOPE worldwide make an impact on the world—each dollar given is leveraged to actually provide $10 in goods and services by partnering with many other charities in foreign countries, especially when help is needed because of disaster.

HOPE worldwide Volunteer Corps

Registration for 2023 HOPEww Volunteer Corps is open. We are excited to offer a variety of life-changing trips all over the world throughout 2023. Many of our most popular sites fill up quickly, so make sure to apply early! Most of our programs are open to all—teens, campus, singles, families, empty-nesters, etc. Some sites have specific age restrictions. For more information see www.hopeww.org/hvc.

Welcome!

We rejoice with our heavenly Father as Shaquan (“Shaq”) Rainey was baptized into Christ last Sunday, November 27!

Holiday Classic: Rejoice Concert

Our sister Jinson Kim is performing at the Arlington building with world-renowned musicians on Sunday, December 4, 5pm. Proceeds will go to the Arlington Housing Authority. Information about the musicians and the tickets is at https://Events.BostonChurch.org

Celebrate and Serve

December 18 is Ilona Sewell’s 70th birthday! All are invited to a party after service at Butler that day to celebrate. Instead of presents, Chet and Ilona are collecting hats, gloves, and white socks that will be donated to a women’s shelter. Let's do some good for women in need as we love up on Ilona!

REMINDER: Make up Sunday for Weekly Offering this Sunday Dec 4th

Glenn Petruzzi

Hello everyone

We are excited to have Kevin & Melissa Miller at service this Sunday!

We also prayerfully will have another baptism!  Just a reminder, this Sunday is our makeup Sunday to make up for any weeks you may have missed this year.  We are asking you to pray and think if you missed some Sundays to make that up this Sunday either online or in person.  Every bit helps toward making up our deficit.  I know this region has been so generous and God is so pleased with your giving.

Currently, we are $58,365 behind our budget in the red this year as some families have moved out last year.  Are weekly giving budget is $15,500 and our weekly average this year has been $14,284.  Let's finish strong this year as we desire to honor God and even have some key staffing in the Northwest region to hire a full-time campus man in 2023 in the NW.

Also, we are very close to reaching our Special Missions Goal of $155,000.  And we are $153,190 with pledges.  We are very close to our goal of reaching our special missions!

Thanks again for all your incredible generosity!

New Format for Worship, Please Be on Time & Instructions about Tomorrow's service

Glenn Petruzzi

Hello Church

I am so excited about having our international day of giving and potluck tomorrow! It has been over 2 years since we have had a church potluck all together!  God be praised!  With that being said I wanted to send this email to share some new things we are starting to do in worship and specifically tomorrow's service.

New Format:  Starting this Sunday we will have all the kids in service for the first part of service through communion.  Then there will be a fellowship break where parents will check in their kids to kids' classes.  We desire to have a dynamic intergenerational worship experience where our kids and people of all ages can worship God together!  I believe the effects of this will be deep and have an eternal impact.  This means you will not check in your kids or visiting parents can check in their kids until after communion and during the fellowship break. We will be trying this and striving to make worship reachable for all ages.  This is going to take some learning but I would like to encourage you to be mindful of welcoming the kids and to sing out with all your hearts.

Please be on time:  We are going to strive to start on time every Sunday to tighten up our worship and for that reason, we would ask that you strive to be on time for Church.  We are on time for our jobs, events, sports, concerts, etc... How much more our worship of God!  This Sunday specifically we would like everyone to come early and be prepared to drop off your food and be in the auditorium with your kids ready to worship at 10:00 am or even before 9:55 am.  We want to start and end on time and that means all speakers (including me) need to keep to time.  We want our services to be excellent and spirit-led.  There is a lot happening specifically tomorrow so please do your part by being on time.

Instructions for this Sunday:   This Sunday is a very special Sunday as we will be having our international day of giving and potluck.  We will also have our all-BCC board vote!  If you can I would encourage you to vote ahead of time on proxy ballet.  It takes 2 mins.  Do this by clicking here.  This is only for the members of the church.  We will have paper ballets but it will be easier and save us time if you vote before church.  I voted and it took literally 1 minute.  See below and vote today!  Also please drop off your food before service and arrive early between 9:30-9:45 am to drop off your dish.

Thanksgiving Food Drive

As we focus on a spirit of gratitude this month, we are collecting food for the Merrimack Valley Food Bank. The need is greater than ever, and the Mobile Food Pantry serves 500 families—up from 350 pre-pandemic. Our partnership with MVFB is valued and appreciated, and they are very thankful for the generosity.

On November 6, please pick up bags and a list of food items to bring to Butler on November 20. This is an expression of gratitude to our God for His constant goodness to us!

People of All Nations

The Boston Church Social, Cultural, and Diversity team (SCUAD) is excited to bring you People of All Nations: a Christ-centered, biblically based unity in diversity training course. Our church eldership, staff and regional SCUADs have already participated. And now it’s your opportunity.

This program will progress through three 2-hour sessions about how we can better achieve God’s dream of being a People of All Nations. Those who enroll in the program will watch video content on their own before they gather at the Framingham building to discuss the materials in 2-hour large and small groups. The videos consist of history, teaching, preaching, and moving testimonies from 60 different speakers from Boston and around the country. They are Bible-based, academic, spiritual, and heart moving. All materials are in English and Spanish.

Video content will be available to enrollees starting November 1 and discussions will be Saturdays, November 12, 19, and December 3 from 10am–noon. We only have space for the first 60 people who enroll.

God has blessed us with a multicultural, multiracial church with disciples from many different backgrounds and viewpoints. We encourage each of you to participate. You’ll grow in your understanding of how to better connect with people who have different stories than you. And you’ll learn how to process and navigate crucial, sensitive, and controversial topics of race and culture in a righteous way.

Enroll by October 28: https://events.bostonchurch.org

Missions Contribution/Generosity Sunday

Last Sunday was an incredible time of worship and celebration as we sacrificed to support the European Missions Society. With the money contributed last week plus pledges, we have collected $124,884! If you did not get an opportunity to give, it's not too late. You can put the money in the weekly offering in person or online, but make sure to clearly mark it as “Missions.” Thank you for reflecting God's heart and for your generosity that resulted in thanksgiving to God!

Missions Contribution/Generosity Sunday

This Sunday, October 16, we celebrate Generosity Sunday and collect our annual special missions contribution to support churches in Europe. Our mission and purpose in Christ are threefold: save the lost, strengthen the saved, and serve those in need. To spread the gospel in hard-to-reach places, we donate toward planting new churches and strengthening congregations. Our collective goal in the NW Mission Center is to give 10x our weekly budget by the end of the year. Please pray, and then decide in your heart to give as much as you can in good conscience and in faith. For more information and inspiration about the European Missions Society please see www.euromissions.org.

How to give:

·       Online at https://give.bostonchurch.org (select the missions fund for Northwest)

·       Mail your check to Boston Church of Christ, 214 Concord St, Framingham, 01702

·       Give in person on Sunday morning

Note: If writing a check, write “Northwest missions” on the memo line.

You can also give a post-dated check via mail or in person. The church admin will deposit your post-dated check on or shortly after the date on the check.

Make a pledge, if you can satisfy it no later than December 31, 2022.

·       Pledge at https://give.bostonchurch.org (go to the Giving History & Pledges page, then “Click here to make a 2022 Missions Pledge”). After your pledge is recorded, you can make payments and track your progress.

·       Email your pledge to missionspledge@.... Include your name, pledge amount, region name, and date you plan to fulfill your pledge.

Kids Contribution: We encourage parents to include their kids in giving, even if it is giving a bit of pocket change—it can help teach a child’s heart and help them to have reason to celebrate too!

Generosity / Special Missions This Sunday 10/16

Glenn Petruzzi

Hello Everyone,

We are so excited about this Sunday and the amazing opportunity we have to give to help souls be saved both in New England and Europe.

We will have an extended time to worship God as we prepare to honor God with our giving.  Our goal again is 10x our weekly offering.  I know God is going to move.  Over the years this region has honored God and been a huge part of helping God's word spread all over the world.  As said before the Boston Church alone has planted over 70+ churches and those churches have planted over 700 churches worldwide!  We get to be a part of seeing God add to more churches and nations planted this Sunday!

We will have a special time of extended worship and then have our regular contribution at the beginning of the service and then have a sermunion and then we will give and celebrate the privilege of giving our special mission contribution.   Any checks can be made out to Boston Church of Christ and in the memo write "missions".

Here is an inspiring and moving video from the Berlin church from EMS and the new Frankfurt planting.   I have also attached a prayer list of all the churches in Europe.

I’ve attached a simple file of instructions on ways to give missions contribution (please read the attachment) to the church this year that you can share with your members.  The instructions also include options for members to make online pledges.  Any pledges should be fulfilled by 12/31/2022.

We will see you Sunday!

Missions Contribution/Generosity Sunday

On Sunday, October 16, we will celebrate Generosity Sunday and collect our annual special missions contribution to support churches in Europe. Our mission and purpose in Christ are threefold: save the lost, strengthen the saved, and serve those in need. To spread the gospel in hard-to-reach places, we donate toward planting new churches and strengthening congregations. Our collective goal in the NW Mission Center is to give 10x our weekly budget. Please pray, and then decide in your heart to give as much as you can in good conscience and in faith. For more information and inspiration about the European Missions Society please see www.euromissions.org

Kids Contribution: We encourage parents to include their kids in giving, even if it is giving a bit of pocket change—it can help teach a child’s heart and help them to have reason to celebrate too!

On Sunday, October 9, 11am, join us as we unveil our 2030 vision! All nine regions of the Boston Church will be coming together to celebrate, dream, and worship God at Lowell Memorial Auditorium, 50 E Merrimack St, Lowell. The Vision Team will present the 2030 vision for the church and set our hearts and faith on what God will do in the coming years.

We want to invite all of the kids of the Boston Church to join us during this worship for fun, engaging and interactive Children's Ministry classes! Children 2–3 years old will be at the Lowell Memorial Auditorium, and children age 4 through preteen will be at the UMass Lowell Inn & Conference Center, just a short walk from the Lowell Memorial Auditorium. At the Lowell Auditorium, there will also be a room for nursing mothers and a space for children under 2 years old where they can be with a caregiver.

HOPE Report

Benevolence contribution: In 2022 we have helped 31 families in our church with $46,000 that has provided support for housing, medical, transportation and food needs. Thank you for your monthly support!

9/11 Day of Service: The September 11 Day of Service programs were a great success. The Respect and Relationship training was inspiring and practical (this was recorded and will be available soon). The fundraiser dinner was a blast with 150 people enjoying a night to learn about various cultures and how to play African instruments. Thousands of dollars of school supplies were donated to children in Uganda. Thank you for all of your love and caring spirit!

Teen Police Academy: Enjoy this inspiring TV news story about our brother Darryl Owens and the Boston Teen Police Academy. HOPE worldwide Massachusetts has been one of the key supporters for this program over the years.
